It's been ages since the last time I posted something on here.
I've been very busy. Had exams. I had my last one on Wednesday. So far, I'm already sure of 1 re-sit (politics. It was an oral exam and it were 2 different parts, I failed one of them pretty bad but for the other one I got 14/20). For the rest of my results I have to wait till next week on Friday. I've got a pretty good feeling for all the rest but I'm not sure. I'll have to wait and see.

Wednesday I went out with a couple of friends to celebrate the end of the exams. We only were with 4, the rest of the class had decided to go out as well and we were supposed to meet them at the Decadance at 11 (us 4 were meeting at 8.30) but at 11 there was no one inside so we didn't really see them anymore. But we had a nice evening with just the 4 of us. We went bowling, I ended up second, but I totally could've gotten 4, because as a last thing I threw a spare, but then I still had to throw once but I forgot so Nele threw mine and the ball ended up in the gutter. So I ended up with 83 and Domien with 85. Booh!

Sunday I'm going to Enter Shikari in the AB club (200 people capacity!) I'm excited!

Groezrock festival names kinda suck, except for Friday: Escape the Fate, Taking Back Sunday and Senses Fail.

I jsut spent an hour and a half typing my history lesson. I had already saved the first part to my usb stick but then I added another part so as I was about to save that something went wrong. Now I don't have the first part or the second part. I lost the whole fucking thing!

This sucks!

And I really don't feel like doing it all over again.

Some pictures of The Wombats (only 9 because after the 9th picture, my battery died, it was fully charged too! But it was still with my old camera, guess it got pissed because I bought a new one)

Tales of boys, girls and marsupials )

On with the new pictures

I love my new camera )

So, yesterday I went out with some people form my class. There were like 10 people there and we went to the Overpoort, quite a famous street under students, especially on Thursday night. It was fun, a few silent moments, we don't know each other well enough to keep talking all the time but it was alright. We did quite a few cafés, and even danced a little, we formed a train on the song 'Venga bus' by the Vengaboys, lol! That was fun.
Anyway, it was nice to able to do that, sicne we've only known each other for like 2 weeks.

It’s weekend!

I’ve just finished my second week of school. So far I still really like it, and I don’t think that’ll change. There are some courses that I don’t like that much but the main courses such as Journalism techniques, Dutch, Film and Documentary I really like.
I also have to follow the news real closely, which is normal, but so far I haven’t been really able to do that. For the whole week I stayed in Ghent, I can use my grandparents’ house as a dorm since they’re living in a service flat now. But I don’t have any internet yet or a tv. And I haven’t bought a lot of newspapers either. So I’m going to have to catch up this weekend, because in Journalism Techniques we can get tests on the news. It’s funny, at my college they teach Journalism and Communicationmanagment, and during Lunch you can definitely see who studies journalism, because they’re all reading the newspaper.
I’ve also made a few good friends, and the whole class still gets along quite well so it’s fun. And we're going out tonight.
The step from high school to college is quite big but probably not as big as going to university. I’m in a class with like 25-30 people (for some courses there are 2 classes together) whereas for example Psychology at University has got about 700-1000 people.

On Sunday I went to The Wombats, they played in the Handelsbeurs in Ghent. There were like only 70 people there (okay, I don’t know how many, but maximum 100). So it was quite intimate. I stood front row.
The support was called Kitchen Knife Wife. They were alright but nothing special. The Wombats were quite good, I think they about played their whole album and one new song. And they had some awesome things on stage. One HUGE wombat. Seriously, it was huge, but lovely. I hadn’t noticed it at first and then I turned my head a little and saw this huge wombat with sunglasses on. And they also had Quack (could've been Crack, I don't know), I don’t know what animal it was, not a wombat I think, a little fur animal and it could dance! And his ears waved and got he was awesome. Quack/Crack is my new hero!!
The reason I didn’t enjoy myself completely at The Wombats was because on Sunday the Blackout played in Belgium as well, but in Hasselt, which is like a 2 hour train ride away from where I live, so if I went, there was no way I’d get back to the train station in time and catch my last train. And I had school at 8.45 the next morning till 7.30 pm so waiting till the first train wasn’t an option either. So I was kinda sad I had to miss them, was like the first time I missed them when they’d play in Belgium (Okay, I missed them at Groezrock as well but that was because I arrived right after they finished and I did meet Sean that day). Boo!

On Tuesday my new camera arrived, I didn’t buy the Fujifilm after all, I ordered the Sony Cybershot DSC H-50 on Thursday. It cost me 400€ with the bag, extra battery and 2gig card (unfortunately it’s not SD but a sony card).
Since I was in Ghent I had to wait till today to actually see it, the battery is now charging so I still haven’t been able to use it. I can’t wait to test it.

It's been ages since the last time I posted something.
I've been really busy, I had a summerjob, taking pears form the trees. It was a lot of fun. I met lots of new people and most of them were really nice, and I really liked the job itself as well. It were long days but it was all worth it. One day I worked from 8am till 7.30 pm, and at about 6pm it had started to rain really bad, I was soaking wet, but we managed to do all the trees off that one parcel that day so we were really happy when it was done, even though we were cold and wet. And then another day it was already raining when I got there, I rained for 4 hours straight, so at lunchtime we were all really wet and cold that we just couldn't work anymore. They let us go home, but we had to come back the next day. so I went home and took a shower. By the time I took that shower the sun was already shining again *rolls eyes* don't you just love Belgian weather?

I'm going to buy a new camera with the money I earned from that job, probably this one. It's got 18x zoom, double imagestabilization, a good ISO and it costs about 250 euro.

Today I had my first schoolday, at college. I'm starting in Journalism.
It was an introduction day for group E and F. I'm in F. Met a lot of the people who are in my class and got lots of information. Too much, I only remember half of it anymore. And I only remember half of the names of all the people I met today. I was searching on Netlog, for people who are doing Journalism in Ghent, saw a few people I met today, and also this one guy of whom I can't remember if he is in my group or not. I suck :p
Anyway, I got my schedule today:
Monday: lessons start at 8.45am, end at 7.30pm
Tuesday: start at 10.30am, end at 7.30pm
Wednesday: start at 8.45am, end at 5.45pm
Thursday: start at 11.30am, end at 2.15pm
Friday: free
Woohoo, I got a whole day off every week! That's pretty damn good. Those first 3 days are very long days though.
It's going to be a big change, but I'm ready for it. I was really nervous this morning before I left, because I didn't know anyone doing Journalism as well, but now that I've already met quite a lot of people, I'm ready for it.

You Me At Six will be doing a European tour after their UK tour!! They'd better not skip Belgium...

I was cleaning my room today, and found a little book with people's names in. It were names from people of the first school I went to, in Drongen. But when I was 7 we moved from Drongen to Deinze and I changed schools. So I haven't seen any of those people in years. So I tried to look some of them up on the internet (netlog specifically). But netlog changed it search function and it made it harder to search for specific people and I didn't find anyone. I would've loved to find a few people, to see what they look like now.

I uploaded 2 videos of me waterskiing on youtube

Yesterday I watched the Christian and Olli from Verbotene Liebe story on Youtube from part 1 till part 53. And last night I had a dream about them lol. I don't really remember what it was about though. But I don't think they were together in my dream. And I had another dream afterwards, which had something to do with them as well. I guess I had a major overdose of Ollian yesterday, that it makes me dream of them.
But seriously Ollian >>>> Nuke

on Wednesday I'm going to the Pukkelpop festival, yay!!
Sigur Ros, Plain White T's, The Killers, Editors...   Can't wait

03 August 2008 @ 01:02 pm
Yesterday I came back home form my 3 week holiday in Croatia. I had an awesome time. The weather was really good, except for a few days where it rained and was a lot of wind so we couldn't go out on sea.
I even learned how to waterski, it took me about 4 days to learn (each day about 45minutes) and the fifth day I knew how to do it and could stand up for a minute or two. That was a lot of fun.
We mainly spent our days in our boat on the sea. I'd get up at about 8 or 8.30 (that was when it was getting to warm to stay in the tent), then go to our boat at about 9.30 or 10, go out on sea, get back at the camping at about 4 or 5, take a shower, go out for dinner and go to bed at 10. In Croatia the sun goes down at like 8.30pm and at 9, it's almost completely dark.

I'm going to make a bigger post about this tonight, with some pictures. Because now I'm almost leaving to visit my grandparents.

I came home from the coast on fiday. I had so much fun. It was so awesome, staying with friends in a caravan, not to far form the sea. When it was almost dark, we'd go to the beach with our French course book and burn it and roast marshmellow son it. That was so much fun!
We also went to Tien Om Te Zien twice, a bit like Top Of the Pops I guess, but with crappier artists. God, it was so fake, they made artists do their songs twice sometimes to get more shots, and everyone had to playback. But it was funny to go there.
I'd post pictures but I didn't take any and my friends haven't uplaoded them all yet.

I'm going on Holiday tomorrow, I'm going to Croatia for 3 weeks. I've still got to pack, I'm totally going to forget a lot of things.

And Sigur Ros is coming to Belgium in November. But presales start next week, when I'm in Croatia. It's like totally going to be sold out when i get back, booh!
But I'm seeing them on Pukkelpop, bought my ticket today. But I'd love to see them in a small venue.

It's official! I've got vacation! And I graduated!!

I had my proclamation yesterday. I fialed my physics and maths exams. But honestly, I don' care, I'm never going to need that again anyway.
Afterwards, we had our rpom, it was a lot of fun, until the music stopped and you had to start saying goodbye to everyone. I got a little bit emotional when one of my teachers said (and he meant it) that he'll miss us and that they won't have another 6th form like us ever again. Apparently we were a real nice sixth form. It was just so nice of him to say that.
I'm going to miss it there as well. I've had an awesome time.

But I shoudl start pakicng know, i'm leaving for the coast in 2 hours and I haven't packed my bag yet.

My exams are over! Which means I've got 3 months of vacation now.
Hooray!!!
And I already know I passed History and Religion, and also biology (the really hard exam with multiple choice, well 3 people failed it but then managed to pass it with another task we had done during class). So yay! I don't know if I passed chemistry or physics though. Ah well, I'll see on Tuesday whether I've got to do a re-sit or not, I hope not!

Anyway, I send in my Werchter review for TMF on Friday, got a mail back a few hours later saying they were going to call the 3 best writers. I unfortunately didn't get a call. But ah well, I'm just really proud I got in that final selection round and that I was given this opportunity. And I had a lot of fun writing the Werchter report, even it had to be a bit rushed sometimes or could only write after 12am because I was still studying till that late. And it just convinced me more to study journalism next year.

I started watching Skins again, I've had the second season on my computer for a while now, had already seen the first 3 episodes but then I didn't have the time anymore. I love it!
I've still got quite a few series on my computer I've still got to watch: My so-called life (I so wanna see a young Jared Leto :p), Bones (the end of season two, I missed that on tv), 10 Dommel episodes (it's an awesome cartoon, it's that dog in my icon, he's awesome, I just to love it when I was younger, I had a videocassette of it which I watched over and over again, but now I seem to have lost it, booh :( But I've got the episodes on my computer thanks to Silke) and I want to watch Queer as Folk again. And I've got like 15 films on my computer as well. Am going to have a busy vacation :p And I'm still following As The World Turns on youtube (just the Luke/Noah parts) and I've also started following Verbotene Liebe on youtube.

Holy shit!
The Belgian music channel TMF is looking for a new reporter, well someone to hold a blog on their website and do reports of festivals, events and stuff. You had to write a 200 word review of an event you had been to and send it to TMF.  So as I want to study journalism next year, I wrote a review of Aiden. I just got a mail back, I made it in the final selection round. I don't know how much people made it into that, but dude! I got in.
But now I have write a fictional report of a day at Werchter 2008 (which is in like 2 weeks or something) and send it to them before Friday at 12pm. But I'm still having exams goddamnit! (Which are not going good btw. Chemistry and Physics were so hard and I suck at science.)
I'm going to try and write the report anyway, exams or not.

14 June 2008 @ 11:12 am
My first week of the exams is over. Still got a complete week to go.
Most of them went okay I think. Except for Biology, it was so ridiculous, almost every question was multiple choice, and the questions were formulated very weird and sometimes it was as if we didn't have enough information to solve it. So it sucked, everyone who walked out of the examination room was just like 'what the fuck?' And the problem is, I also have chemistry from the same teacher and last semester his chemistry exam was really hard as well, but then I did get good grades on it. Let's hope I'll do fine on chemistry now as well.
I think next week will be the hardest week, 3 oral exams (Dutch, History and Religion). I really don't want to do that religion exam, I don't really get it, it's about naturalism and spiritualism and I'm just not good at that, you have to think too much for that, and I'm not good at that. So I'm already crossing my fingers that I'll have an easy question.
And for History, I have to study the Belgian political system and the European Union, the treaty of Lisbon, which is supposed to be ratified in 2009 by all the members. But now the Irish voted no in the referendum, so now I don't even know if what I'm studying will actually happen next year. For History, I have to study future that isn't sure yet. this just doesn't make any sense.

I just can't wait for these exams to be over.
And I still have to buy my dress for the prom, which is on the 26th of June. And the next day I'm going to the coast with some friends for a whole week. Yay!
